 Theme: Butterfly 


        I've always found such beauty in butterflies. They are amazing creatures that come naturally in vibrant beautiful colors (& some not so vibrant). When I was a teenager (17) I went to a butterfly sanctuary with my dad in Costa Rica. At the time I was really into photography so I took lots of photos so I'd never forget. Unfortunately, I didn't just enjoy myself in first person so I don't remember it as well as I'd have liked. I didn't learn until I was in my mid-20's that I hold on to the memories a lot easier when I'm not watching/experiencing something through the lens of something else. I'm glad I did learn that about myself before I had my baby, who's turning 2 in November! 

 


 

    I'm ridiculously anal retentive but I try not to let it control me in art so although I stamped it twice, I picked the best one and moved on- be unique is the message I see in this sentiment. Perfection isn't unique. Anyway, I loved this stamp set the first time I saw it and knew I needed it.  Made for Mod Squad Challenge mostly but also Word Art Wednesday, I used FSJ's Beautiful Wings layered stamp and sentiment. On Hammermill's 80# cover, I used Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio as the base color, Broken China & the top is Altenew's Permanent Black. I stamped the sentiment using VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with Ranger's Silver. I used a similarly colored pattern paper in my stash as the mat and placed that on 120# Accent Opaque for a top folding card base.

Mod Squad Challenge  Theme: Sympathy Hi there! I got this stamp off Amazon Warehouse and ever since, I've been wanting to have a go at it using my Sharpie markers. With the gift of some Memento ink, I was finally able to play! I stamped the image in the aforementioned Memento, a couple times to make sure I had the whole image. I hadn't used a dye pad since I was a child and it was hard for me to tell if I was putting ink down on the stamp. I colored it in with Sharpies and tried my hand at alternating colors with like colors. For my first time, I'm thrilled. I used the print then cut feature on Cricut for the sentiment and layered the background for the text an extra 3 times for some dimension. The vase started on A2 cut card stock but I cut it down so that I could layer it on the gray matting. It is a side folding card and I left it blank inside.

Mod Squad Challenge

Theme: Sympathy Week of 7.21.21             For this top folding card I made for the MSC ( https://modsquadchallenge.com/with-sympathy/ ) I cut 'With Sympathy' using my Cricut Maker from gold vellum and secured it to the blue card stock border then adhered it to a black card stock. I glued a white panel on the inside so that there is space to write a personalized message.

Rainbow Bridge

 Another Day, Another Card Theme: Sympathy      Thinking of the Rainbow Bridge always brings me sadness but also the good memories start to pour forth. As soon as I saw the rainbow stencil on  KSS , I thought I should make a Rainbow Bridge card. I used both their rainbow and cloud stencil SVG. I used Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Squeezed Lemon, Spiced Marmalade and Wilted Violet Distress Oxides for the rainbow. For the clouds I used a base of Black Soot and blended in Hickory Smoke Oxides. I found the cat silhouette on Cricut and modified it down to what you see. I also used the Cricut writing feature for the words. I glued the black silhouette to the rainbow and then matted it on purple. I had another version of the rainbow that I embossed but I didn't like that one either so I used the rainbow I liked best of the two.
